REVENUE
EARNED FROM TOURISM , HOW DOES IT BENEFIT THE LOCAL COMMUNITIES?
Many
tourists come to Tanzania yearly. Is the income
from tourism benefits Tanzanians
properly?
For instance, Tanzanians living quite nearbyMount Kilimanjaro ,
how do they benefit? Really there
are
porters for carrying cargo, tourist guides, and so on. But do they get what they desire? Or they just get something from 'hand to mouth' only?
It is so important for, revenue gained out of Mountain Kilimanjaro to benefit the local citizens. They always watch tourists going in and out of the Mountain every day,by hundreds, and they do not get clear development out of it!!. Some of them live until they die, without even improving their homes.
What advice/idea/knowledge you have on this?
This is an example for Kilimanjaro region. What about other areas of tourism? How do Tanzanians benefit?
I know that taxes are spent for road maintainance, etc. But we could do more than that. i.e. Free (or discounted) Medical treatment, National Housing in villages, Free, better education, Meals for students at school, Free learning materials, etc
Tourism areas that are absolutely forgotten/ not known, and have a good history of ancient, can be used to benefit Tanzanians living in those areas, and the nation as a whole, if the proper procedures will be followed.

Talk about CULTURAL TOURISM. Provide ideas,
comments or even challenges
that may throw light
of what can be done. Or if
something can lead to improvement.
